5 Modern Small Bathroom Trends for 2020

Modern Small Bathroom 2020

In 2020, the minimalist philosophy has become a massive trend. Everyone’s enthralled with the idea of doing with less: less materialism, less furniture, and less space.

One of the things that is a natural consequence of living in a smaller home and doing with less space is a smaller bathroom. Typically, when designing a living space with a smaller footprint, the bathroom is the first place where square footage is cut.

A modern small bathroom, however, can be just as enjoyable as a larger one. The only thing you need to do is implement these five trends that can take your water closet to the next level.

1. Accent Wall

One great way to make your bathroom remodel pop is to add an accent wall. An accent wall is suitable for the other rooms in your house, so why not your bathroom as well?

Don’t think that a bathroom only needs practical design features and no purely aesthetic ones. A space that is designed well is one that you’ll enjoy. Given that your bathroom is probably the first place you go to after getting out of bed to get ready for your day, an aesthetically pleasing restroom will have you feeling refreshed and ready to attack your day!

2. Raise Ceilings

One great way to make a small space feel bigger is to raise the ceilings. If you have the option to do so, get a contractor in to knock out the ceiling to raise it just a little bit.

You’ll be surprised at just how much a foot or two can do to widely increase the perceived space in the room.

3. Large, Backlit Mirror

Just because you have a small bathroom doesn’t mean your mirror needs to be small! A large mirror with a LED backlight running around the edges does two things.

Firstly, it brings the decadent experience of a five-star hotel to your home.

Second, like elevated ceilings, it helps make the space appear bigger than it really is.

4. Hidden Storage

When space is scarce, hidden storage is a must. If you have a tiled or paneled wall, try knocking out some of the wall and installing a cabinet. Then, plate the cabinet door with the same tile or panels to match the rest of the wall.

Install an inconspicuous handle and voila! Hidden storage for the price of no space. Just make sure you get plumbers to come in to ensure that nothing you do will mess up the plumbing system.

5. Sound System

Last but not least, a sound system can take your bathroom to the next level. You should already have an integrated sound system to play your tunes throughout your home.

Why should the music stop when you enter the bathroom? Integrate that sound system with another Google Home mini, Alexa, or whatever sound system you have decided upon.
