This new beautiful space belongs to Uber as their new Advanced Technologies Group Center. The center is located in Pittsburgh for developing and researching in autonomous transportation, vehicle safety, and mapping solutions. The manufacturing of Pittsburgh’s history is matched with the Uber vision of launching the self-driving vehicle.
Every space in this center building is connected to each other, including the lobby and the main space. With some evolving prototypes, it can make a good reminder to all people about an important process to reach a success.
The inspiration of the space comes from the “City of Steel” with the contrast of colors and bright white interior. The color makes the interior feels warmer complete with the materials and the industrial design that it uses.
The showroom is designed cathedral with the industry values: creativity, dedication, and hard work. This area is used as an altar for the autonomous car. The interior is white with a curtain wall and a warm fireplace in winter.
There is a fully functional machine shop is located beyond the studios and workstations rows. The form is stunning and also high, a result of merging the design between the showroom and this machine shop inside the building.
All rooms are designed based on the function first. The new center brings a beautiful design with functional elements as a basic. The elements are paired with some materials in interesting ways, creating a rich experience for all people.
