Saint Jacques De La Lande: A New Town Hall Building with An Architectural Gesture and Urban Strategy

Located at Saint-Jacques de la Lande, France with 2550 m² in size, this new town building becomes an ideal opportunity to combine an architectural gesture and an urban strategy. Local Architecture Network (LAN) Paris tries to make this building that can be used as a workspace to provide state services and as a symbolic representation of a community.

Concept

Besides providing state services, this new town hall building also can be a public space capable of generating new collective uses in the city. This project is developed from a clear standpoint that the new town hall building should be a place of generating life: a place more than a building, a meeting place, a building with a clear, unitary image, and a workplace that concerned more with its space intelligence.

Design

Pin Pin

The federative element of this project is its contemporaneity and this primarily means developing a foreseeing and potential future evolutions and minimizing impacts as well. The design made by the architect is based on the easy legibility of the building’s various services that shown clearly around the naturally-lit patios and the spatial organization around the central hall of the building.

Details

The architect uses an architectural, environmental and economic approach, especially for these programmatic and urban constraints. This approach is combined with a strong will to create a building housing extensive areas of a superstructure and also limiting the intermediate load-bearers to a minimum. This way can create flexibility indispensable for the building for its running and evolution in the future.
