Living Room Remodel: 5 Tips to Revamp Your Space on a Budget

Living Room Remodel

Has the look of your living room gotten stale? Looking to freshen it up? Only have a small budget with which to do so?

While a small budget won’t allow you to transform your living room entirely, it will still allow you to make some small changes. And these changes could make more of a difference than you realize.

Looking for a few ideas? Then read on. Here are 5 tips for performing a living room remodel on a small budget.

1. Paint!

One of the simplest ways to change the complexion of your living room is to paint it. Paint costs between $15 and $30 a gallon, and it takes between 2 and 3 gallons of paint to cover most living rooms. So, in essence, with paint, you could change the entire identity of your living room for well under $100.

2. Buy Ornamental Accessories

Another cheap way to remodel your living room is to buy ornamental accessories. By placing a few of these accessories around your living room, you will undoubtedly alter its identity.

Ornamental accessories can run the gamut from portraits to plants to vases to rugs to candles and more. Depending on their size and their quality, they can cost anywhere from a few bucks to a few hundred bucks. As such, even those with extremely small budgets can partake.

3. Install New Carpet

Different flooring materials come at different prices. Whereas stone or laminate will cost you an arm and a leg, carpet can generally be bought on a budget.

Most carpet runs between $7 and $10 per square foot. So, if you own a 14×10 living room, you can install a new carpet for around $1,000.

$1,000 isn’t dirt cheap. However, when you consider that carpet lasts for over a decade, it’s really not much to spare. So, whether you’re selecting a carpet with intricate designs or selecting one with a solid color, you won’t be hurting your bank account all that much.

4. Implement New Lighting

Another way to add a splash to your living room is to institute new lighting. This can be done either through established or portable lights, though portable lights will generally be more affordable.

A new lamp, a new ceiling fan, or new recessed lighting can make all the difference in the world and at a budget to boot. Whereas table lamps can be purchased for under $50, ceiling fans and recessed lighting can be installed for between $100 and $250.

5. Move it Around a Bit

A large part of what defines a living room’s decor is its layout. The positioning of the furniture, the location of the TV, and the placement of other entities are vital to the room’s overall look.

As such, you can provide your living room with an entirely new look just by moving some things around a bit. Give it a go; you might like what you see.
