Habraken Rutten commissioned Fokkema & Partners to revamp its office interior. The project began in December 2016 and ended in July 2017. The office offers the 360° view over the city of Rotterdam from the 25th floor of the Millennium Tower. The spectacular backdrop plays an important role in the office interior design.
Views are easily captured by window frames at the end of existing corridors. This emphasizes the mesmerizing qualities of the city of Rotterdam. Thanks to the views, it was easy to make a designing plan without any difficulties.
A variety of connecting axes perforated the solid building core, making the floor plan more efficient and transparent. There are large-scale pivoting doors to ensure that the office can adapt easily to the appropriate situation when necessary while still maintaining its transparency. While the interior may look serene at first, the use of worn materials helps form a rich contrast across Habraken Rutten.
Inspired by the industrial field in which Habraken Rutten operates, subtle graphics were translated into wool paneled cupboards to create spectacular interior views. The use of color was toned down to the bare essential.
Combined with a balanced and refined lighting plan, the office turns itself in the nightly hours which is quite distinctive as opposed to any conventional office. The project was able to handle even the smallest details while staying true to the new and strong signature of Habraken Rutten.
