The Post Ranch Inn is situated in Big Sur, California, and designed by local architect Mickey Muennig. What makes this rustic, eco-luxury hotel interesting is the fact that it overlooks the view of Pacific as well as how nature cocoons the property. The hotel offers 960-square-foot of glass and wood surroundings that every visitor will fall in love with.

This can be considered as Muennig’s largest project in which he designed a series of freestanding units reflecting his organic vernacular with a modern sensibility.
A Few Defining Structures
Pin
Muennig surveyed the property for several weeks and climbed the trees to nail the best views. Such observation brought him to design a few defining structures, such as tree houses, hobbitlike rooms, and cylindrical cabins. The tree houses built on slender stilts standing ten feet above the ground.

The hobbitlike rooms are covered in grass, wildflowers, and sod.

When you stay at the hotel’s cylindrical cabins, you can see how the Muennig was able to capture the breathtaking views outside.

He also used the majestic redwoods to emphasize the beauty of the property.
Curvaceous Structures
Pin
He displayed curvaceous structures that nearly has no right angles. However, it looks perfect for the property and is congruent with nature.

Instead of competing with the surrounding nature, the property blends well with it to create a powerful combination and present the best retreat in the area.

The dining room is neatly arranged and overlooking the ocean view. It is really a sight to behold for the guests while enjoying their meals.
