Morocco Design 2026

Morocco has fed the imagination of architects and designers for centuries, yet its contemporary design scene has mostly flown under the international radar. Morocco Design wants to change that, and its very first edition turns Casablanca into a three-day design trail this October. I love that it’s built around real showrooms, ateliers and architectural gems instead of one big convention hall.

• A city-wide format. Instead of one venue, the program spreads across showrooms, galleries, ateliers and cultural spaces, so you discover Casablanca one stop at a time.
• A Moroccan takeover at Villa Sahrai. The official hospitality partner, designed by Christophe Pillet with interiors by Ali Lahlou, hosts work by Salima Filali, Myroc, Zoubida, Verneo Studio and Studio Sana Benzaitar.
• Hamza Kadiri at Teatro Italia. His solo show L’Axe invisible, curated by Amine Amharech, sets totemic wood forms inside the historic theatre mid-renovation, raw surfaces and construction traces included.
• Hicham Lahlou, 31 years on. Roche Bobois Maroc hosts SIGNATURES, a tribute to Lahlou’s international career, placing his sculptures and design pieces in dialogue with the brand’s collections.
• Craft you can touch. The Zellijist and Saad Filali lead a live zellige demonstration at Flexform, while ETC Collection runs a Moroso workshop using Kvadrat textiles.
• Heritage meets AI. At Fondation Alliances, Othmane Bengebara presents Irtah!, a low-seating piece mixing craft, textiles and artificial intelligence, and a finalist for the Institut du monde arabe’s 2026 Design Award.
• Italian icons, Moroccan dialogue. Molteni&C pairs its furniture with Ghizlane Agzenaï’s geometric Totems, and Ali Lahlou curates new B&B Italia pieces at CLAY Concept Store.
